Often with scandals, it is because we have been projecting a lot of our ideals on to that person. Or there is a societal "ideal" that the individual "transgressed".People with Neptune on Sun/Moon/Asc/Mc/Venus or Mars have a tendency of appearing like "gods" or rock stars. Or at-least are projected as such
Sometimes the Neptune person can themselves "live up" or patronize the image that is projected by accepting the "angelic" ascendancy-because of no clear definition of whom they are themselves.
But as is inevitable, people are not perfect. And we all have cracks that we don't want exposed.
The issue is that with Neptune people, the cracks are not "supposed" to be there and so when they are discovered, its an incredible shock to the projected ideals that the person was supposed to be living up to.
Often the accusations that we throw to the Neptune person of being "deceptive" or "cunning" etc.are actual self -disappointments that we are inflicting on them.
Its not that the qualities that we now see as "tragic" were "hidden". It is just that we failed to ever acknowledge that they could ever be there.
So who is responsible for that? The Neptune person or us? So it becomes easier to blame the Neptune individual.
People with strong Neptune placements are either seen as the "Savior" or "Satan"(in sheep clothing). And the public image is usually one of the two extremes.
The "Hero" archetype in movies is Neptune not(contrary to popular belief)Mars. And we are as sucker for the underdog to rise up and claim their place in the Sun.
The romantic lead or crush is Neptune-not Venus. For the individual has to appear "flawless" to all and wipe out any doubt that "true love" is real etc.
Neptune rules the people, places or professions where you will not readily accept that anything "bad" can ever be.
